With so many options of Wedding cake to choose from my thoughts are Which Wedding Cake would I choose and where do I start…
So, I thought I would share some of the cakes I have photographed at weddings and a little bit of information from suppliers that may help you with your decision.
The Semi Naked
I love this beautiful 3-tiered Semi Naked Wedding Cake for Emma & Neil.
Created by Mandi of https://www.facebook.com/rosecottagecakes/
It has a layer of chocolate, one of vanilla and the other lemon then its been covered with a smear of vanilla buttercream, the beautiful fresh pink Roses were supplied by https://www.facebook.com/theflowershopcannington/
Then carefully arranged on the cake by Mandi
This stunning semi naked Wedding Cake for Katie and Ian was created by Carly of Bake Me Happy https://www.facebook.com/bakemehappybycarly
The bottom two tiers are vanilla sponge with vanilla buttercream and raspberry jam.
The top tier is red velvet with vanilla buttercream.
It’s been decorated with handmade shortbread hearts, fresh fruits and flowers.
Carly explains that the thin outside layer of buttercream helps to keep the cake fresh. It provides a theme to tie the different colours of cake together.
This cake was particularly suited to the rustic theme of the wedding day.
Another version of a semi naked cake made for Carly and Chris was also created by Mandi of Rose Cottage Cakes.
A scrummy six-inch vanilla cutting cake topped with fresh berries & chunks of Cadbury chocolate along with seven batches Mandi’s soft, squidgy, chocolate brownies.
I actually got to taste these as I was a guest as well as the wedding photographer for my friend’s Carly and Chris’s Wedding Day. I have to say the brownies were absolutely delicious!
Mandi explains that these beautiful rustic semi naked cakes can be decorated to suit your wedding requirements & venue in whichever season, all budgets can be accommodated!
The Traditional Wedding Cake
Ann-Marie and Neil wanted a sparkling cake, which would also complement their Bridesmaids and colour scheme.
This stunning cake was created by Sue of Cakey Sue
Sue explains that Anne-Marie and Neil chose a 12″ Maderia cake, filled with Raspberry Jelly and Madagascar Vanilla buttercream. A 10″ Rich, chocolate fudge cake with a whipped chocolate ganache filling, and a 6″ lemon sponge with Sicilian Lemon Buttercream, infused with fresh lemon zest..
Each tier was crumb coated with a white chocolate ganache before covering with a premium Bridal white sugar paste. Each tier was supported by an internal structure. The quilting detail was carefully measured and punctuated with edible diamonds. Each quilted tier was encircled with Diamanté ribbon.
The middle tier was dusted with an edible Bridal lustre before being encrusted with sparkling sugar crystals. Sugar swags were added to tie in the design.
Sue then made sugar crafted roses to complement Ann-Marie and Neil’s colour scheme.
A personalised wedding cake topper was especially commissioned to announce the newly married couple.
The cake sat upon a decorated cake board and was then presented upon Sue’s Diamanté cake stand.
Where do I start with this beautiful four layered cake designed by Ruth Furmage. Ruth is actually the mother of the bride and I think she did an amazing job for Zoe and Will’s Wedding.
Ruth is now retired but I think it’s a great example of another traditional Wedding cake. The layers consist of fruit cake, chocolate sponge, vanilla sponge and Lemon sponge. A little something for everyone! Each sponge had butter cream in between. The icing flowers were matched well with the colour scheme of the day.
Themed Wedding Cakes
When I saw this cake my jaw literally hit the floor. This incredible cake was created for Sofy and Tom by the very talented and Gold Award Winning cake designer Tracey Rothwell of https://www.littlecherrycakecompany.com
On one side an incredible Jurassic Park design. This was very fitting for the day as Sofy & Tom had a dinosaur themed wedding.
The other side is so elegantly decorated, such a good idea to decorate the cake differently on each side.
Absolutely amazing!
Cupcake Tower Wedding Cake
This Cupcake Tower Wedding Cake was made by the whole family for Cervinia and Talat’s Wedding.
The cupcakes were a mixture of the following…
Raspberry, these had freeze dried raspberries and real raspberries on top.
Banoffee and vanilla these had banana chips and chopped nuts with toffee icing.
Chocolate, these had chocolate icing with Maltesers and chocolate curls.
And last but not least the cutting large cupcake which had white chocolate fingers and pink and white icing with sugar or rice paper flowers.
Making your own Cupcake Tower Wedding Cake is such a great idea, especially if you have a tighter budget. They are easy to serve, and each guest is served a beautifully decorated piece of cake.
